Players who own an iPhone XS, and iPhone XS-Max, or an iPhone XR will be able to take advantage of the new 60 FPS setting, according to Nick “Unusual Spending” Chester, a senior member of Epic Games’ public relations team.
While Epic Games has talked about Android phones before, 60 frames per second are only available on high-end iOS devices, and there is no word on when it will be available to Android gamers.
Players who have iPhones that can play at 60 frames per second can turn it on by going to the settings menu in the Fortnite app and selecting the Video option. They can then choose between 30 and 60 frames per second gameplay options.
“Performance is limited by technology,” Chester says, “and the devices indicated are more powerful.” The team is constantly searching for methods to improve performance across all devices,” says the leader.
It is Epic Games’ plan to keep working on the mobile version of their hugely popular game in the future. A custom HUB is expected to be released in the near future.
