Fortnite For Beginners
Fortnite For Beginners
Although the island has altered drastically over time, the essential concepts remain the same, and thus our Fortnite beginner’s guide will help you achieve your first Victory Royale. Take a seat on the combat bus, thank the driver, and prepare to rush into battle.

1. You can’t take anything from Spawn Island.
There will be guns, ammo, and building supplies all throughout when you spawn on Spawn Island. And you may take them, but not onto the Fortnite map. Treat Spawn Island as a practice place for Fortnite, even if you just have a minute until the game fills up with 100 players. You can shoot anyone nearby, but the guns won’t do any damage, or you can build a temporary sniping hut (more details on how to do that below in point 8).
2. Disembark as late as possible from the Battle Bus.
You’ll hear the Battle Bus’s horn blow as soon as you’re able to jump from it into the map below. Wait until the Battle Bus reaches the end of its flight path, then leap off. You’ll have fewer rivalries for landing sites, less danger of getting shot in the opening two minutes of the game, and less competition for loot. When gliding, aim towards a home or structure as there is a good chance of finding a chest or at least some basic treasure inside. Just use your pickaxe to hit the ceiling. The glider
3. Glider deployment that is automatic
There’s no way to delay your glider from opening as you’re falling from the Battle Bus. That is all. It only folds up after landing, so be patient and head for the nearest structure.
4. Small shield potions before big shield potions:
Small and large blue bottles are scattered over the map, and drinking them gives you 25 and 50 shields, respectively (the same button you use for firing your gun). You can only drink little bottles up to 50 shields, so drink them first to avoid wasting inventory space. You can guzzle huge shield potions regardless of shield level, so if you only have one, pop the top and suck it down.
5. Beginners should use assault rifles or SMGs.
When learning how to play Fortnite, stick to assault weapons or SMGs. Sniper rifles are worthless beneath 75 meters, so have one accessible but don’t use it in close quarters unless absolutely necessary. When learning how to play Fortnite, keep in mind that you should use your shotgun first if you’re shooting someone closes up. Shotguns inflict a lot of damage and can kill you in one shot, so keep one handy while investigating houses, basements, or any other tiny locations.
6. Research the rarity scale
Grey guns are the most common, followed by green, blue, purple, and gold. Gold firearms are extremely powerful, so grab them if you see them. If you’re having difficulties picking which guns to keep, you may hover over them to see how much damage they inflict.
7. Put on your headphones and listen
Having good headphones can mean the difference between life and death in Fortnite. Hearing footsteps (or, more often, gunfire) and determining their direction can save your life. Knowing where players are coming from allows you to prepare quickly, whether it’s switching to a shotgun or building cover.
8. Build cover before healing.
While we’re at it, erect walls around yourself before you start healing. Using healing or shield potions takes time (up to 10 seconds for a large healing kit), which means you can’t move, shoot, or do anything else but twirl the camera. So those walls will stop any gunshots from hitting your face. Walls can also be clipped into cliffs and hills, eliminating the requirement for bare land.
9. Damage from a three-story fall
No, this isn’t Borderlands: falling from a considerable height (over three stories, to be precise that’s three regular walls, one atop the other) will deplete your health.
10. In a fight, always seek the upper hand.
It’s important to be high while you’re in a gunfight with one of the 100 people running around the map. No, not at all. Make sure you’re higher than your opponent by building ramps or jumping frequently (which has the added bonus of making you harder to hit). Build four square walls around yourself, then a ramp up to the wall facing your opponent. This will provide you with a nice sniping platform to escape to when reloading. To get the upper hand, a gun, a grenade, and so on, just keep repeating the construction formula upwards (jump to build below your feet).
11. Keep grenades, bandages, and shield potions close at hand.
At least one of the aforementioned things should be in your toolbar. Use grenades to blow apart parts of your opponent’s cover, especially if you aim for the ground. Once the lowest level is destroyed, the rest will fall, leaving them exposed to your gunfire. Extra healing and shielding can be used for yourself or shared with a squadmate in need of immediate assistance.
12. Don’t raze trees
Use your pickaxe to destroy trees for building materials, but don’t entirely destroy them. Instead, stop when the tree’s hit bar reaches 50 health, as leaving a trail of destroyed flora makes it simple for other players to track you down.
13. There are no longer different bombs.
Our previous variety of bombs—smoke, boogie, and sticky—made it difficult to keep track of them all. In Chapter 2, though, there are only ordinary grenades available, and we all know how they function. But for now, there’s nothing but old-school grenades to throw.
14. Select the correct model from the lobby.
When you first start the game, it will try to place you in a squad with random players. If you prefer to play solo or in a duo, simply change the game mode first. Whatever mode you’re in, it’ll say “Play!”
