Captain MacTavish, popularly known as “Soap” to most gamers, was not only the best character in the history of Call of Duty (at least up to this point), but he had also established himself as one of the most beloved characters in all of gaming. Because he appeared in all three Modern Warfare games, players were able to spend a significant amount of time with him, which is why his death was so shocking, especially considering the fact that the majority of fans didn’t believe Call of Duty had the courage to kill off such a beloved character.
Watching the typically steely-eyed Captain Price break down in front of Soap’s body is a powerful sequence that further solidifies the memory of one of gaming’s most memorable characters. The mention of his name in the end of Modern Warfare 2019 was enough to make people want to play the game’s sequel, which shows how powerful his character is.
Ghost
The Ghost is another character who has gained popularity among Call of Duty fans, especially when his former life was revealed and how much the character has been through, including the torture he has endured and the fact that his family has been murdered.
Even while it is Shepherd who finally saves him and takes him under his wing, it is also Shepherd who betrays him once more in what is considered to be the most tragic death in the franchise’s whole history. One of the most surprising things about Ghost is that even though he only appears in one game, he’s been called one of the most beloved characters in the series.
Captain John:
Captain Price was a real leader among soldiers, never displaying signs of fear, and is unquestionably the most recognizable figure in the Call of Duty series. He’s tough, but he’s also honest, and he has a large number of statements that most Call of Duty gamers can recall with relative ease.
His trademark cigar and clever quips were only a couple of the reasons why he was so well-liked by the public. In fact, Price even briefly served as the franchise’s mascot for a short period of time. This was mostly due to the fact that most gamers thought of anything Call of Duty with Price’s moustache-framed face.
Gaz
Lieutenant Gaz is yet another well-known character from the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare series. In spite of the fact that he has only appeared in two games, Gaz has established himself as a popular member of the SAS troops within the games.
His function in Modern Warfare 2019 has been significantly expanded, and he now plays a much more important role in the game. Besides that, he is a playable character with a lot of personalities, which he didn’t have when he was in his first form.
Victor Reznov
Victor Reznov was a selfless individual who constantly looked out for the best interests of everyone around him, regardless of his own desires. Reznov’s interactions with Dimitri Petrenko and Alex Mason are both essential elements of the first two games in the Black Ops series, and they serve as a crucial building brick in the establishment of the link between World at War and the Black Ops games.
Reznov is a natural leader, and he and Mason go to a variety of warzones throughout the game, resulting in some of the most entertaining missions to play. Also worth noting is the fact that he was dubbed by the great Gary Oldman, which contributed to the creation of an amazing and distinct voice that very few people would forget in a flash.
General Shepherd:
Every fantastic character, even in the universe of Call of Duty, does not necessarily have to be a hero, and General Shepherd is the ideal illustration of this. Fans adore him because of his villainy, rather than because of it.
You play through almost the entirety of Modern Warfare 2 under the impression that Shepherd is one of the good guys before he is revealed as the game’s main antagonist It led to an all-out war between American and Russian soldiers across Europe and Asia. Modern Warfare 2 is available now on Xbox One and PlayStation 4. The last confrontation in the desert is a legendary sequence in the franchise, and it remains etched in the minds of those who have seen it firsthand.
David Mason
Another example of how Call of Duty treats protagonists with respect is David Mason, Alex Mason’s son. He talks about a lot of different things in Black Ops II. The reunion with his father at the end of the game is a real tearjerker.
And, unlike many other characters in Call of Duty, he really adds a sense of levity to the games, which is refreshing. While he isn’t a very funny person, the few funny things he does add to the overall fun of the game.
Alex Mason
As a result, Alex Mason has one of the most compelling backstories in the history of Call of Duty, which helps to explain why he is such a revered figure among fans of the Black Ops series.
Each and every player will recall the legendary opening sequence of the game, which included an interrogation that immediately set players on edge and caused them to doubt everything that happened after that. After that, he appeared in Black Ops II and Cold War, which helped to make him a fan favourite.
