This controller, the 8BitDo SN30+ PRO 2 Controller, is one of those incredible pieces of equipment. In terms of quality, it’s on par with the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X controllers, respectively. Not just in terms of the physical controller, but also in terms of the internal construction. This results in some of the most precise movements I’ve ever witnessed. With textures similar to the PlayStation 5 controller, the 8BitDo SN30+ PRO 2 Controller is non-slip on the hands and feet.
On the 8BitDo SN30+ PRO 2 Controller, the following is true: Upon closer inspection, you’ll discover that the arrangement mixes the classic Super Nintendo face layout with the extensions made popular by PlayStation controllers. Two control sticks have context buttons that may be pressed in. A simple control pad with start and select buttons. In addition, there are the now-traditional four face buttons in the old Nintendo design, as well as the power button.
However, the 8BitDo SN30+ PRO 2 Controller has two additional trigger buttons on the underside, similar to those on an Xbox Elite controller. You can download the 8BitDo Ultimate Software from the 8BitDo website or your Android phone and play around with the controller’s sensitivity, making macros for the extra buttons, and more. Because I’m one of those people who adapt to their environment rather than forcing it to adapt to them, I didn’t change many settings here, and when I did, I found myself reverting to them because the default settings are perfectly fine and don’t require any tweaking.
I tested the 8BitDo SN30+ PRO 2 Controller on my PC and my Nintendo Switch.
I tried two games on my PC, one from Steam and one from an emulator. tested it with Resident Evil Village, which I recently bought after reviewing the PS5 version. Because Resident Evil Village is an action-packed game, I thought it was ideal to test the 8BitDo SN30+ PRO 2 Controller. It works well with the default Microsoft controller drivers, giving some nice tight inputs that work well with split-second timing shooting and movement.
I’m going to go back into Call of Duty and give it another try with the controller to see if it helps me at all. Incompetence may hinder my performance. Using the 8BitDo SN30+ PRO 2 Controller with the PCSX2 software, I played Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks.
The 8BitDo SN30+ PRO 2 Controller worked flawlessly after some PCSX2 software remapping.
To say that the 8BitDo SN30+ PRO 2 Controller worked well is an understatement. The 8BitDo SN30+PRO 2 Controller emulates the PlayStation 2 controller better than the original. I also used the 8BitDo SN30+ PRO 2 Controller with my Nintendo Switch, which is one of the best reasons to buy this controller. Also, the 8BitDo SN30+ PRO 2 Controller is on par, if not better than the official Nintendo Switch Pro controller. I know I’ve said it before, but the 8BitDo SN30+ PRO 2 Controller is the best controller for playing Nintendo Switch games.
Aside from using it with my Switch, I purchased this controller in the hopes of playing COD Mobile on my Android phone and tablet, which I believe will be possible. The connection to my Switch was flawless, but it appears that COD Mobile isn’t functioning properly. Even though I am aware that the PS4 and Xbox One controllers are officially supported, I was under the impression that this controller was also supported. Does this sound incorrect or do I have something wrong with my understanding of the situation? It connects without a hitch to my Android phone and tablet by Bluetooth, but when I try to link it with COD via Bluetooth, it simply sits there staring at me as if it is waiting for me to take the next step. When Call of Duty Mobile was finally published in 2019, it became an instant hit, but not without a little controversy surrounding it. Before the game was made available worldwide, some of the features that players had enjoyed during the test phase were deactivated. Support for Call of Duty Mobile controllers was removed from both the iOS and Android versions of the game, which sparked outrage.
Fortunately, Activision listened to player feedback and reinstated the feature in a subsequent update a few months after the game’s initial launch. Using a controller, on the other hand, will match you against other players who are also using controllers, just as in PUBG Mobile and Fortnite. This is done to make things fair between all the players.
So, which controllers does Call of Duty Mobile support, and how do you connect them to your computer? You should be aware of the following information: Until November of this year, Call of Duty Mobile on iOS and Android only supported a limited number of controllers. As of right now, only two controllers are officially supported, and both of them are limited to in-game use alone. Touch inputs are still required for navigating through menus and loadout screens.
It is possible to alter the sensitivity for each game type (multiplayer, Battle Royal, and Zombie) separately in the settings menu, but button mappings cannot be changed at this time. Call of Duty Mobile controller support is going to get a lot better in the future, say the game’s developers.
If you’re looking for fully configurable controls, you’ll have to play the game using an emulator such as Bluestacks or the official Call of Duty Mobile emulator. However, you will be matched with other emulator players if you use either of these options.
I tested the 8BitDo SN30+ PRO 2 Controller in various Switch games to see how well it worked. The 8BitDo SN30+ PRO 2 Controller performed admirably in Mario Kart, allowing for effortless drifting and snaking. With Bayonetta, I was able to use Witch Time from the first scene to the last. I also played Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, which requires precise button pressing and multiple combinations to fight well, and again, no issues.
